  • ● This is a great course. Whatever shortcomings you experience, just push through.. The teacher is a good teacher and will show you a series of other relevant skills and considerations, just be patient and you’ll learn something.This course was well worth the money. The instructor was very clear and helped to break down the Gameplay Ability System in a digestible format. The system is VERY complex, especially for a beginner like myself, but I think I have a better handle on how to use it effectively after this course. Also, the instructor was responsive to my questions.Awesome course, and a really good introduction to the Gameplay Ability System which is daunting at first. This course let me get a feeling of how it works and how I can use it in my own games and prototypes.Really satisfied with this course, I can only recommend it to anyone willing to know more about the Gameplay Ability Sytem of Unreal.Overall great tutorial. Interesting set ups. The first C++ set up with the Ability System was a lil tedious though. Nevertheless awesome course.Good course. You learn about the ability system what you need to get started.And I keep referring back to the course whenever I get stuck somewhere in the GAS.I highly recommend this course for people starting with using GAS.With few tweaks this course is easily done in UE 5+ (done it myself in 5.1).Great thing about this course is that the instructor shows how to do harder things in GAS, like creating an Actor projectile ability or making damage calculations and how to apply it to combo based system.Fantastic Course! The ability system is great, but very poorly documented by Epic when it comes to the C++ side of things. The instructor really does a fantastic job digging into nuances, especially on the C++ side, that are very hard to figure out if you don't have someone like him walking you through it. He explains everything extremely well, and he walks you through many examples that help make you comfortable with it all.One very pleasant surprise is that he takes a lot of time walking through animations, even though that's not the subject of the course, and he really helps a lot of the complicated things about animations make a lot of sense. I really feel like I'm ready to implement the ability system and animation into my own games without difficulty based on this class. Great job, and highly recommended!It's not for Unreal Beginner. However, If you have some experience with UE and want to learn Gameplay Ability System, this course likely to help.In summary, I found this course very successful and instructive.Very comprehensive guide for gameplay ability system. If you want to use this feature there is no better place to learn how to use it.This course have been a good introduction to Gameplay Ability System in a straight way to the things that matter, programming different abilities.It is well explained, trying to show the different cases, GAS concepts and tools.It's basically focused to blueprint which in fact makes things easier.Would be nice to have a second part focused in multiplayer.A very exciting course that showed me many new ways.Would take new courses from the instructor at any time.Thanks for sharing your knowledge.After completing this course, I thought this guy is very very high level because now I 3 big years experince unreal c++ and the arguments he uses are very very complex and difficult to use. But I have to say something, this couse is I think little bit useless because there are many unnecessarily huge ways to implement simple ability things and so I will not use this guys uses but eventually the course is very very high and valuable. There many useful things in the course to see except the whole ability system...# Use the version 4.20 of Unreal Engine 4# The content is very outdated with little update# Really great course to get into the Ability System.# This is not beginner friendly# I recommend everyone to know the basics of Unreal and C++Earlier from my previous comment I left a very negative rating because I find the content very difficult. I did not find the lecturer's teaching difficult it's the outdated content where we are stuck with no updates on newer version of Unreal Engine 4 such as the content was made using 4.20 and at the time I was writing / learning it's 4.24 and 4.26. My advice to those who are starting out use the 4.20 version and learn the Ability System from there as you can transitioned what you've learned to the latest versions. This will save you many-many headaches as you take on this course. Unreal's latest version is still the same as of the 4.20 because of the updates certain features tend to get move around or name changes so you need to get familiar with 4.20's Ability System to know what you need to know on the latest version of Unreal. The lecture is by no means a beginner friendly! You will have to be familiar with the basics of Unreal's Blueprint and C++ programming, but you can still learn the Ability System now which I 100% recommend. Just you need to know that the lecturer's instruction is hard to understand for those who are not experience or doesn't have any knowledge of the Unreal Engine 4 so I recommend you use the correction version of Unreal and the right version of Visual Studio to make it less complicated as you progress. The course is still NOT dead even if the content is using an older version of Unreal and get minimal update from the lecturer.A for effort and amount of informationExplanation would be clearer if trainer forbid himself from saying "this" "that" "this guy" and instead clearly enunciate the items he refers to or acts upon.For the lack of documentation and general information on the Ability System, this course is the fastest and most efficient way to learn enough of it to start actually working with that feature. That said, there are a number of problems with it - first is video quality. 720p is really bad in general and for anything involving code, it's terrible. This course has a lot of code. Also the author is not a great typist, takes very long time to type out code and makes many typos, mistakes and copy-pastes a lot. This takes so much time that by rough estimation I would say on average every video would have been 30% shorter if he just had the code pre-typed and went through it instead of typing it as he records. Explanations are also all over the place. Sometimes they are very concise and good, other times there either isn't any, or there is too much and the meaning gets lost.With all that said, the course goes through a lot of other topics (animation, UI, AI) so you won't get blocked by something that you are just expected to know, but you don't, and considering that this is quite possible the most extensive coverage of Ability System in UE4, I'd say it's worth 4 stars, even with all the problems.This course is very well explained and if you want to learn the GAS within UE4, you will learn a lot ,great thanks to the instructor.Just a note, if you are a complete beginner, i dont think it's a good idea to follow this course and learn first c++ coding.Some chapters were pretty hard to follow for me but in the end you can copy some parts of the code to use for your own project.It's a helpful course since the ability system is so large and doesn't currently have a lot of documentation or examples to get you started. it will help get you up and running with several abilities with some nice UI integration plus a basic character controller, combat system and zombie AI.The one thing that stands out as a needed addition is a multiplayer section. Since one of the best features of the ability system is its multiplayer systems.とても良い勉強になりました。
